Ruby on Rails Developer – Middle/Senior

Overview

SOFTSWISS is hiring a Middle/Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join our Casino Platform team.
You’ll work on our modular iGaming platform used by 1,300+ brands worldwide, driving innovation, scalability, and performance in a high-load, distributed environment.

You’ll develop and evolve backend services to ensure performance, stability, and scalability across our casino operations platform. Your work will impact thousands of users by delivering a reliable, secure, and efficient system architecture. You’ll contribute to long-term technical strategy while mentoring teammates and upholding engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the full development cycle, from backlog refinement and testing to launching new features and implementing technical improvements.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable application architecture.
• Review, maintain, and refactor existing code to ensure high performance, security, and maintainability.
• Investigate and implement new technologies to enhance platform efficiency and stability.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Required Experience

• 4+ years of commercial experience with Ruby/Ruby on Rails.
• Strong command of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Deep understanding of SQL, data structures, and algorithm optimisation.
• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and CS fundamentals.
• Skilled in debugging, performance tuning, and solving complex system issues.
• Comfortable working in English and Russian (Intermediate+ level).

Nice to Have

• Understanding of Ruby on Rails key concepts and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with event streaming systems and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Experience in database and application performance tuning (query optimisation, indexing strategies, caching techniques).
• Strong test-driven development (TDD) skills and experience writing specs with RSpec.
• Knowledge of scalable system architecture design.
