In September, devastating floods caused by Storm Boris hit Central and Eastern Europe. Torrential rains poured down, drowning thousands of homes and leaving many cities in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania in ruins. In Poland, the worst of the storm struck the southern regions, impacting dozens of towns and necessitating urgent evacuations and assistance for the affected communities.
Rapid Aid and Financial Support
Responding swiftly to the disaster, employees from SOFTSWISS’ offices in Warsaw and Poznań rallied together to aid those suffering from the floods in southern Poland. Within just two days, they managed to gather and pack boxes filled with food, hygiene products, and essential items like matches, candles, and batteries, totalling over 100 kilograms. These contributions were handed over to Caritas Polska, a charitable organisation coordinating relief efforts for those impacted.
The company not only supported this initiative but also made a significant contribution to the organisation process, purchasing boxes and ensuring they were packed and sent off to those in need. Additionally, SOFTSWISS provided urgent financial aid by donating 64,000 zlotys to the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy charity fund.
Earlier this year, SOFTSWISS also extended a helping hand to flood victims in Brazil through the Help Brazil campaign. They didn’t stop at providing financial support; the company launched an awareness campaign to shine a light on the issue within the iGaming community and the media. Such efforts showcase SOFTSWISS’ commitment and readiness to assist individuals affected by natural disasters worldwide.
Broader Global Strategy on Social Responsibility
The aid campaign in Poland is part of SOFTSWISS’ broader global strategy focusing on social responsibility and sustainable development (ESG). The company also dedicates to long-term social and environmental projects. Noteworthy initiatives include participation in World Environment Day, Pink October, Movember, and various projects aimed at protecting the environment.
“We believe that taking part in such projects is not just a chance to provide real help to those affected, but also our duty as an international company with offices in Poland. We strive to support initiatives that create positive change and assist communities in overcoming their toughest challenges,” stated Maciej Wieczorek, Regional Director of SOFTSWISS in Poland.
This initiative highlights SOFTSWISS’ commitment to long-term support for regions affected by natural disasters and the company’s active role in addressing global social and environmental issues.
